Hi All,

Does any one know where can I get the speech synthesizer SP0256
because I could not find it in the market.
Or, does any one know other chip that does the same thing as SP0256
and it is better.

Thank you.
Sanad

    Hi Sanad,

Take a look at the I.C.'s made by RC Systems at www.rcsys.com
. They have unedited speech samples for you to listen to that are
    impressive. See what you think.

    Hi Sanad -

You may want to check the Quadvox web site and look at their test-to-speech
    processor: http://www.quadravox.com/qvdiph.htm

    Hope that helps.

I may have one I could ship for about $25. Not sure if it works, as I
have no way to test it. Contact me off list if interested.

Correct site. Part number is Z733, (or use the catalogue search on
    SP<ZERO>256, not the letter O!)

It comes with two other chips, which you can probably dump. The set
of 3 made up an old Cheetah ZX Spectrum Speech synth module. I
believe one is a custom GAL chip and the other is a ROM programmed
    with preset words/phrases.

Don't forget P&P on top of the £3, but Greewnweld is the type of
place you can find all sorts of useful bits, so you're bound to order
    something else!!

Would there be any interest in making a basic stamp provide unlimited
speech like the sp0256 did? Just curious. The SC-01 and the Spo256
are dead, these are two I can think of and I am sure there are others.
Anyone know why these speech synthesis chips were discontinued?
    Government cover up or what?

    regards,

    Leroy
