Motor Speed w/ TV REMOTE

I want to control the speed of a dc motor using my TV's universal remote.
I am making a window shade that I want to raise and lower. Does anyone
have a schematic or know of a website that explains how to do this? I dont
want it to be done with a Stamp if possible because like I said, the
application I am using it for is very simple and I want to keep it cheap.
