Blown ports

Hello Stampers,

Sorry for My English but I live in the Dutch speaking part of Belgium ;-)

I blew up two ports of my BS2P40, I don't know why, one was directly
connected to a serial LCD, the other was connected via a 4k7 to the +5V as
input for a dallas Ibutton).

Probably there was something wrong with the ground connection between the
PCB's.

My question, can I put a 1k resistor in serie with the LCD line and iButton
line, acting as a current limiter in case something goes wrong?
