I've used pocket DOS on my handheld IBM WorkPad and I could "RUN" the BS II
program but I could not download to the stamp. I don't think the BS II
program could find the serial port through winCE. Has anyone ever been able
to program their stamp via a handheld?

    Justin -

Are you using the sync cable as the serial port? You
may need an add-on serial port such as the ones Socket
Communications makes (Mobile Planet has them).

I think this sort of thing is a killer app for
    handhelds. Allen-Bradley unfortunately discontinued
their customized Windows CE-based HP Jornada 690
Handheld PC with PocketLogix and some other apps. My
company was ready to buy 2 or 3 of at $1K+ in order to
upload and download PLC programs in the field without
trusting EEPROMs (which failed often enough before
9/11). Having lugged laptops into some of the world's
premiere chip fabs, I would love to be able to do
program troubleshooting and network setup from my
handheld. Getting back to the Stamp, one could change
a few constants at the top of a program and give each
Stamp a unique address on an EIA-485 network -
something much easier to do one the unit is in place
than pre-assigning addresses to units at the factory
and sorting through them once they get to the customer
    site.

I spoke with Tracy Allen about this a year or so ago. I thought the
stash could be "Improved" with an idea like this and if anyone could
    do it, Tracy Allen can.
