Hi Warren,
the problem is that you never seem to have one solution for one problem. It
is always a horrible mix of it all...
I have been struggeling for some days now and the latest news is that my
module (that consists of bs2 and the ultrasonic device) works fine with any
pc that runs windows 98 but when you use windows XP it justs stops when you
get too close to the sensor (!) which doesnot make any sense at all because
I send data only one way so how can the pc tell the stamp to stop?
It is a continous struggle with strange mistakes like this and when it
finally works, no one knows why.
Is there any other way to measure great distances? Like Laser?
I would pay any price :-)

good idea to check the power supply for sufficient ampere, sorry Warren I
forgot this important point.
Tony, could you describe that part about the decoupling and the caps a
little more? seems there is something to learn for me there...
