BS2SX + HP-900 transmitter/reciever

Hi all. I'm having trouble with the HP-900 transmitter/recievers
from Linx Technologies, and I was wondering if you could help. I
found the other baudmode codes for the BS2SX, and I had the BS2
partially working when they were hooked directly together. When I
put the HP-900s into the mix, it didn't work most of the time. The
BS2SX is hooked up to the reciever, and the BS2 is attatched to the
transmitter. I have it set up so the BS2 transmits an asynchronous
serial signal, and when the BS2SX recieves it, it turns on a LED. I
have a debug screen set up to monitor the incoming signal, but
sometimes I get a bunch of weird symbols when I turn the transmitter
on(the BS2 is not turned on). The problem might be that I am using a
piece of stripped wire about one and one-half inch long for the
reciever. I have an actuall whip antenna meant for the HP-900s, but
I have a wire connecting them together, also. Does anyone have any
idea what's wrong? Thank you.
