I am working On a graphic display. The maker of the controller allows you to
download black and white pics in .Bmp format. I just want to know What is .Bmp
format and how doses it work?

it put 1's and 0's from left to right like a tv or does it do it in
packs (8 bit, 16 bit ). That is what I want to know.

Here is the .BMP format defined. WARNING this is long and involved:

icons, wallpaper, startup (splash) screen and shutdown screen are all in
this format up to Windows 95 -- Win98 allowed some other file formats for
things when they came up with the active desktop deal.
Any graphics file you save in Windows Paint will be a bitmap (unless you
have a later version that will also do jpegs).
