Remove Stamp Chip

I'm ready to remove my BS2E from my BOE and install it on a dedicated
circuit board. Aside from wearing a ground strap, any suggestions or
cautions about how to remove that big chip?

    For Paul

Use a grounded small screwdriver and pry up each end of the chip a bit at a
time. Chip will slowly float free. Would not recommend a chip removal tool
since sometimes those things can send a chip flying across the room.

And also be careful to pry down against the socket, so as not to damge those
tiny pc board runs on the bottom of the little pc board. The tip of the
screwdriver could tear up the pcboard runs if you aren't gentle and careful.

Perhaps Parallax should start offering boards with
    ZIF (Zero Insertion Force) sockets.
Or, you could plug a ZIF socket into the existing socket,
or change it out (carefully cut away the socket, and desolder one pin at a
    time)
Personally I add a 4 pin header to the side of my socket
on the circuit board, and program and debug in-circuit.
for further on the 4 pin cable see

Make prayers to Allah, Say three hail Mary's and lift it out, I use a
small bladed knife or screwdriver. They have devices to pull the chip,
but I find them a pain and usually end up bending pins while trying to
look cool pulling the chip out. These type of devices are not very
forgiving, one mistake and they are toast. Make sure connections are
correct, there are two possible power connection methods. Check manual
for pin outs and cable connection schematics.
