Using a Web Cam with a Stamp

I would like to know if anyone has any information on using one of
the Snappy parallel port frame grabbers with a Basic Stamp or other
embedded controller mcu.
I have been looking for information on the Snappy Parallel port
device, but I haven't figured out how they get they program it to
grab a frame and then download the frame to the PC.

I thought it would be neat to hook this up to a Siteplayer web server
module with a CCD Cam so it can take it's own pics. But as usual
there are always technical problems.

1.) Control something to take a picture.
2.) Get the picture info from the device to a onboard RAM module.
Speed isn't important, and hooking up a 256kx8 ram module shouldn't
pose a severe problem to hold the image info.
3.) Probably the hardest thing, convert the image info into a GIF or
JPG (or maybe BMP in worst case).
4.) Then put the image into the Siteplayer so it can be displayed on
the little web pages.

Thanks for your help,
Earl

I would really look towards an embedded PC solution for this one, like a
    PC104 board or similar.
