BetaBrite LED Display for Basic Stamp

I've been looking at a way to display data collected with a Basic Stamp on at
least 12 large LED displays. Trying to come up with a way to multiplex the
data consumed most of my program space. I could use another Basic Stamp to
control them however, I found a great LED display already assembled and ready
to go...
The BetaBrite LED sign is 14 2.1" 3-color 5x7 dot matrix LED displays along
with a controller and memory. It can be programmed via an infrared remote, or
for us Basic Stamp users, via a serial port. The sign has a 10,000 character
memory and has over a dozen display mode such as scroll, rotate, and flash.
The serial port is a standard serial interface that can operate between 300
and 19200 bps. The sign is available at Sams Club for $150, or direct from
BetaBrite for $200.
I'm currently using it to display weather data, and it is easily read across
the room. I've put together an example program to show how to program the
BetaBrite using the Basic Stamp. It can be downloaded at: www.timbitson.com/w
eather/
More info on the BetaBrite LED Sign can be found at: www.betabrite.com

It is a coincident that I am working on a similar project like yours.
Yesterday I have "walked" across the border into China and bought a LED
display module from QSTECH. It is a LED panel manufacturer in China
(www.chainzone.com).
What I want to do is to make up an electronic queuing system. I will use LED
panel for display, and a Star thermal printer for ticket printout. Still
thinking of using BS2 with a keypad & LCD for a user terminal. Don't know if
it works, still trying to make it.
Look forward to learning from your experience.

Anyway, the last time I went there I tried his root URL and that worked.
Then went to his weather
pages. I think he forgot the /index.htm on the end.
