controlling a MP3 player

I saw a while back on here, a method to control a cd player using a basic
stamp. I want to control a MP# player so that certain soulds can be played
at certain times. Say like a whisle or horn sound when a model (1:32)train
passes over a magnet to play. Another idea, is to have a livestock railroad
car, with random livestock sounds. Also if the that car is handled roughly,
the livestock gets mad. With some MP3 players getting around $40.00 they
would be cheaper than already made solutions.
