hello all,
I am trying to find an off-the-shelf radio
transmitter/receiver combo that will transmit
a on/off status aprox 600ft...I looked on
parallax web site, but they only seem to have
a range of aprox 250ft...I know the range
is possible, but haven't had any luck finding
a company that makes them...thanks in advance!

High-end RF solutions with "very" long range:
These have incredible range, low power mode, easy to configure, and are just
all-out excellent for the price. http://www.maxstream.net/
Not tested yet, but these look almost identical to the MaxStream units:

and get the range up to 600' or a little
farther that way. They had a article in the December 2001 Circuit Cellar
about some UHF antennas, that might help you do this.
