Serial communication ground issue

I have a problem that should be fairly easy to fix (I hope) I am
communicating between 2 BS2e's via a serial line, but I lose all
communication if they dont share the same ground. I wanted to run
the 2 off of seperate power supplies and eventually replace the
serial wire with a TWS/RWS-434 link. That part should be fairly easy
once I solve this ground issue. Any suggestions?

Depending on the distance you may need to use drivers of some sort to
increase the range and
decrease noise problems.
www.rentron.com has some really inexpensive radio transmitter and receiver
packages that work good, for up to several hundred feet. And really tiny
too.

They have to share the same ground if they are hard-wired. When you go to RF
the common ground is no longer necessary.
