How to use a One Wire device with a BS2 chip (DS1820)
Archiver
Posts: 46,084
I was wondering if anyone has an example of using the DS1820 temp
chip with a BS2 chip they could send me.
I just seem to be having no end of trouble getting it to work on a
BS2 chip. I know I could use a BS2p or sx chip, but I had a couple of
old BS2's I wanted to use for something, like a thermometer for my PC.
Thanks

Besides Maxim, does anyone know of a source for these DS2480 chips here in
the USA?
Thanks

Hi Earl -
It appears that Newark Electronics has them in stock. Here is the
Newark Part Number 11C1133
Regards,
Bruce Bates
They had a oddball minimum order requirement of 97 of the little beasties.
Unfortunately that's around $430 more than I wanted to spend for a few.
I'll have to look for some other source.
Regards,
Earl

They also have people who take phone orders. Just a thought...
number
73 spence
k4kep
order amount is #97 pieces. They are $4.40 each and we have #183 in stock.
Thank you. "
So I orderd a few from Maxim, but they don't know how long it'll take to
fill the order.
So does anyone else, make a comparable substitute chip to use?

pretty much worthless anyway.
I've got the 1 wire working with the Atom, Basicx, BS2p, but it tends to be
a bit flaky, in that it gets a bad reading from time to time. The timing on
the 1 wire seems to be extremely touchy.
I just wanted to retire these BS2's to something useful instead of the junk
box.
