There are other terminal programs out there too. TerraTerm works well
but the advantage of Hypterterminal is it is on nearly all Windows
systems.

Win 95, NT..98, ....
Here is a description of Hyperterminal from the manual :
"HyperTerminal is designed to satisfy your basic communications needs in a
small, easy-to-use product. It demonstrates many of the new features of
Windows NT including TAPI, Unimodem, and the Windows 95 user interface.
HyperTerminal Version 1.1 is a more powerful version of the HyperTerminal
program that shipped in the first release of Windows 95. HyperTerminal
Version 1.1 includes Zmodem crash recovery, redial on busy, and better font
handling and display. HyperTerminal was written for Microsoft by Hilgraeve
Inc.
If you need features beyond what HyperTerminal offers, Hilgraeve and other
vendors of Windows NT software have larger full-featured products that may
better satisfy your needs. Here are some of the features and benefits you
can expect from many commercial products.
* Record and play back logons and other repetitive steps
* Define your own keys and buttons with text or bitmap labels
* Automate communications with a powerful script language
* Make the backscroll buffer as large as you want
* Additional terminal emulators and file transfer protocols
* Added connectivity, like telnet access to Internet, modem pool support,
and much more
For sales information on full-featured Hilgraeve products, ask any software
dealer, or call Hilgraeve sales lines at 800-826-2760 (US and Canada),
313-243-0576, fax 313-243-0645. You can also find information on Hilgraeve
products at http://www.hilgraeve.com."

Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
Checked by AVG anti-virus system (http://www.grisoft.com).
Version: 6.0.295 / Virus Database: 159 - Release Date: 11/1/01
data.....to PCs and all sorts of serial capable devices ( modems,
etc. ) In the old days hyperterminal was used alot to check email.
( it really sucked too )
stampers of course use it to see what the stamp is sending and
to send serial data to it.
