Downloaded to where?

Thanks to all for the help in getting my BS2SX working.
I'm using the windows stamp editor, v1.2

When I download and run a program, is it being burned into the EEprom?
If so, should I worry about ruining the EEPROM, burning it too many times?
What tools are available to query the memory and find out exactly what
bytes are stored where?
Does Parallax have a layout of the memory space for the BS2SX?

Thanks again for the help,

Art

    Art,

Each program download is burned into the EEPROM but there should be
no worries. The EEPROM has a large number of rated burn cycles. If
you downloaded a program once every minute, 24 hours a day, the
EEPROM would fail after something like 70 years.

The Windows stamp editor includes a feature to view the contents of
the EEPROM. Press CTL-M to activate the memory map.

Thanks for all the help, Jim.

I also notice that the adapter that I received from Parallax has an output
of 17 volts with no load. Is that too high? Is that why the one chip on
    the CPU DIP
    gets very warm?
I thought that the input could be from 9 to 24 volts DC..
    17 sounds a little high...

This stuff is fun, and thanks for the help guys!

The 17 volts are refered as no load or open circuit voltage.
The 9 volts are obtained a full rated load.
The this is to the fact that the power supplay has an internal
    impedance.
Also remenber that that DC voltage is function of the AC input.
The rated DC voltage is normally specified at nominal AC voltage
(120 VAC, 60 hz in the US)

Yes, but even under a load, the DC input is 15.7 volts. That seems too
    high.
If the power supply regulator chip has to drop 10 volts, that is way too
    much.
That's why it's running so darned hot.
