Attach/detach Sin/Sout DB-9 while powered

Greetings,
What are your opinions regarding attaching and removing the serial
cable between the BS2P and another device (i.e. computer COM port)
while the BS2P is powered and running?
In general I power off my BStamp while doing the connections. And, I
often wire in a high anti-static tolerance Maxim 232 driver for
devices in which I will attach to the BStamp while it is powered on.
Anyhow, I just want to get comments regarding this - especially to the
BS2P's Sin/Sout pins which are specific for the RS-232.
Thanks,
Jah
