DS1620 leads ( how long can they be? )

as I remember, the Earth Measurements experiments state that it would be easier
to use a AD590 sensor for ease of use, but I really like the performance of the
DS1620...... any idea on how long I could sucessfully extend the
leads? Im thinking to use CAT5 cable to a little perfboard with the
1620 on it....maybe 5' long? would that work?....( from a BS2 )

Yes, the DS1620 is great for accuracy without troublesome
calibration. I guess that 5' would be no problem at all. Be
absolutely sure to include a capacitor across the power supply
terminals right at the DS1620. (~3.3 uF) It is very sensitive to
power supply glitches.

I tried this with a 10-meter cable without any problem. Of course, there was
a capacitor accross the power supply pins of the DS1620...
Best regards,
Phil.
