INEX-1000 and the board of education?

Hi I'm just a beginner with the BS. I own a board of education and an
INEX-1000 training board. I like programming in VB to send /receive data
with a BS. Using my board of education is striate forward when sending and
receiving data because it has that capacitor switch on it, making my life
easy. However when I use my INEX-1000 it has a down lode connector and an
rs 232 connector that I believe is not connected directly to the stamp. I
bought the board because it has many of the completed circuits that I need
for my experiments with sending and receiving.
My problem is sending and receiving with the INEX-1000. I want to
turn on and off the leds on the led monitor, on the INEX via. the PC I'm
using with VB. However, it dose not allow me to do this because it will
not work directly I think, like the Board of education. What am I suppose
to do to get the INEX to behave the same way as the board of education
when sending data and receiving data to and from a PC?
Thank San ,')

    San,
The INEX-1000 DB9 connector to the Stamp is the same as on the BOE. The RS
232 interface is a separate ckt with a DB9 connector. that can be connected
to the stamp I/O pins directly or to a ckt. on the bread board. Look at Pg.
3 schematic of the INEX document that came with the Board or download
    schematic from PARALLAX site.
