How to connect the RS232 with a transceiver?

Hi all,

I am controlling my basic stamp using signal from the RS232 com port.
I am trying to make this into a wireless connection. However, the
433MHz Transceiver I had cannot connect the RXD,and TXD directly to
the RS232 port. Voltage at RS232 are at +12 V (binary 0) and -12 V
(binary 1).The RF transceiver is only designed to send and receive +
0 V (binary 0) and 0 V (binary 1), referred to as TTL/CMOS voltage
levels.

Can I do a direct step down of voltage for the RS232 and directly
connect it to the transceiver?

What other methods can I employ? Your help is greatly appreciated.
Thank You

Use a MAX-232 or equivalent RS-232 level converter. This will step-down
the higher serial port voltage to TTL level from PC to RF module, and back
up from TTL to higer level from RF module back to the PC.
