Program changed

Hi everyone,
I am using a BS2 to control some motors on a device that generates 8KV.
Occasionally their are arc outs which tend to rattle all the
instrumentation. This last time it actually caused the program to change,
even after resetting it. It basiclly worked, but as if it had a mind of its
own. When I reprogrammed the same program back in it worked perfectly.
Is it possible for the program to change?
Is there anyway of protecting the stamp from this happening again?

It IS possible, especially in your case of high voltages! Lots of EMI/RF
interference.
I would advice to shield the stamp in a metal case, use a separate power
suplly for the stamp if not already, filter and shield all power and
datalines.
If possible use optocouplers for datalines to your high voltage generating
device.

An add-on to my reply concerning filtering:
Take a look at
http://www.iijnet.or.jp/murata/products/english/design/emc/index.html
It provides an EMI simulator (EMI filter selection simulator) and basic info
(noise suppression techniques).
You could enter your signal parameters to simulate the EMI you are up
against.
