Can I make IR Emiter to emit a Certain Freq...?

Can I make the IR emitter to emit let us say 35.8 KHz then have the
BS2 IC interpret it as a 35.8 KHz Signal, and the same way with other
frequencies?

In the BOE full kit, there are IR Receivers from
PANASONIC (check www.parralaxinc.com for details) that
can do frequency sweep : you can then check for
relative distance (the object is at X% of the
measurable distance....) depending on the frequency
you emit and you receive, all in two device (the IR
led and the receiver).
