Hello !
Anyone who can tell me how to make a basicstamp application to
monitor the RPM of a RC plane engine.

Thanks

    Hi Joakim
one way is to use an IR transceiver placed close together, the IR would
reflect off the propeller back to receiver
I've seen this kind of setup on equipment I have at work
I think Rainbow makes a IR transceiver kit that might get you started

I think I've seen an audio pickup (microphone perhaps with the aid of a
small amplifier) used in some RC gear. You may want to run it into a
555 one-shot to clean up the signal. Small speakers tend to be useful
    as an input device also.

All Electronics and Jameco carry "over-runs" of reflective
photosensors from several manufacturers and they are pretty cheap. I
use one in a photoprocessor (no, the IR doesn't bother the
photopaper!) These devices are IR diode transmitter and receiver in
one package. You can use these to read pulse width or frequency.
