popular temperature sensors

Hi,
I have a DS1620 temperature sensor. however, I would like to try
other sensors with my BS2SX. I have heard of sensors with as little
as 3 pins. What are some popular temperature sensors to measure
ambient temperature as well as measure temperature inside the system.
Here are some factors that are important: cost, availability (parts
and information), and ease of use (both in terms of programming and
in terms of hooking up to a breadboard and PCB board). Any input
would be appreciated.
Thanks,
RP

Try the LM34DZ. Cheap, dependable, accurate.

There's an LM335 (and its series, the 35, 135, 235) that is a
temperature controlled zener diode. It has three pins, but you can
get by using two pins (the third lets you calibrate it more
accurately). however you need a ADC to get the temperature from
it.
There's also a one wire version of the DS1620 called the DS1820.
But the BS2SX can't do one wire networking by itself. If you
change to a BS-2P........

http://www.rentron.com/PicBasic/LM34.htm This shows a project
using the LM34 with a PIC, but you can easily use it with the Stamp,
and an external A/D IC such as the ADC0831.
Scott Edwards "Programming and Customizing the Basic Stamp" book
has a complete article showing how to use the LM34, serial LCD, ADC0831,
for an LCD display with time/temperature project.
