digital switches?

I have the feeling this might be a stupid question, but here goes. I
have an application controlled by a basic stamp. I'd like to be able
to turn it on and off with a remote. I've got it so the remote sends
a signal to a pin on the stamp telling it to stop, but what I really
want is to make a digital version of push button switch. So when I
give it 5v it turns on (gives the stamp power) and remains on until I
turn off the 5v and turn it back on again. That way the stamp doesn't
need to waste time checking if it's supposed to be on or not. Any
advice appreciated.

mode and wake it up when needed. I draws very little power in sleep mode.

by Scott Edwards exactly telling you what it is all about. However, I don't
have that on hands so if you like, I can send you a copy of those few pages
on Thursday.
