HELP: LCD is not working

Hi,
I am having a problem with my HD44780 parallel LCD that came with my
stampworks kit. It is not displaying any thing. I ran the LCDdemo
code that was in the Stampworks book and nothing is showing up. I
double-checked my connections and made sure they were correct. I
hooked the wires to the LEDs that are embedded in the stampworks kit
and they are lighting up. My conclusion is that the BS2sx is working
and the LCD is not. What can I do to diagnose the problem and fix it?
Any input would be appreciated.

Sincerely,
RP

    Hi RP

Just a little suggestion. Not seeing anything on LCD may be the contrast pot
    setting is not in the
right way. Pin 3 on the LCD is the contrast pot.
