Digital I/O

Hi there everybody.

I got some digital I/O modules from jameco (part #184541). On them
there are two sets of pins, one says 3-8 vdc input, the other says 3A
60VDC output. Can I hook the input up to a stamp directly and use
them as relays to control higher voltage dc motors, or am I missing
something?

Thanks as always for any advice.

Mark

I didn't look up your part number, but....
First be sure to find min & max current rating for the input and set your
stamp output within that range with a series resistor lean toward the low
end. Since you'll probably use the stamp to source the current, just be
certain not to exceed the 20 mA (double-check me on this value) pin rating
of the stamp, or the total device rating.
Look for more detail on the output rating also - it would not be safe to
assume that a motor load with a 3A 60V nameplate rating will not blow the
output on start-up. I/O modules generally are produced for specific load
    types.
