Christmas light project

This will be my second stamp project. I am a programmer by trade and
my soldering and electronics skills are non existent so I am trying
to keep this simple.
I want to use the stamp to control strings of christmas lights. You
know rapid on-off and dim to bright sequences. I am thinking of
using a G3NE or G3NA SSR and hooking it directly to the stamp and
using HIGH-LOW for flashing and PWM to control dimming.
Is this the right model of SSR and can it perform the switching-
flashing that I will expect of it? Will that affected its rated load?
Can this SSR safely be connected directly to to the stamp output?
Will PWM produce levels if dimming if attached directly to the SSR?

I hope I did not violate any rules of posting as a first timer but I
need to be specific and know if this will work.

If any of my assumptions are incorrect I hope that someone can give
me some other ideas.
