Broken pins on the BS2

Hi all,

I tried to pull my BS2 from the buildin socket, then 2 pins end up
breaking: the 1st pin and the last pin of BS2.
I dont know what to do now. I was thinking about soldering it, but I
called around for tech shops to do it but they dont solder chips.
Please help me figure out what to do.

thanks.

That happened to me, I soldered a piece of solid-core copper on the side.
    worked fine.

That would be tough. If the 'board' the stamp is on isn't very
damaged, I could probebly fix it. My stamp came with a
manufacturing defect (no worries, Parallax. . . it happens no
matter how good the QC, and I am *not* complaining. . .!) and I
was able to fix it. **TEDIOUS** to say the least. I would put the
stamp in an appropriate sized socket, including the pins that broke
off and try to solder them, then *never* remove the stamp from that
socket. Just plug the stamp/socket assembly into another socket.

if you'd like me to try, contact me offlist and we'll talk.

This happens often. You need to buy a very simple "IC puller" from
radio Shack which will save you lots of grief.

What I have done in the past is to clip a lead off of capacitor
(rigid enough), put a small dab of solder on the metal remaining
from the broken pin, and some on the lead and then attach them
trying to leave the least amount of solder. To make sure it fits in
a socket, use a small needle and insert it into the hole of the
socket and try to enlarge the hole a bit. Make sure not to over do
    it.

    good luck.
