Editor Version 1.2

Hello Stampers,

I downloaded and installed the new windows software editor ver 1.2 on
different computers, running Win98 and Win NT4.0.

On both systems the Help - Contents pull down menu gives the "'4.74' is not
a floating point value." error.

Does someone have any idees to correct this problem?

Thanks in advance

Michel De Meester

According to what was mentioned previously, this has to do with having the
date in Windows set to the European (day, month year) format and/or using a
comma (,) for a decimal point. Try using the US (month, day, year) format
for the date and changing the decimal point to a period (.)

Parallax is aware of this and is supposed to fix it.

Bummer. One of the other European list members reported this as a fix.

You did go into the REGIONAL SETTINGS in control panel and change it there?
In Win98 SE there is a setting on the first screen that lets you set
everything to one region -- mine is set to "English (United States)." I
think this sets the date, decimal point, etc.. all at once.

Try running help as soon as you open the editor, before opening any Stamp
files. This may indicate another issue as well.

    sorry, wrong.
I changed my system according to Rodent's advice and still get the same
    mistake. :-(

I changed my settings to "German (Standard)" and got the error you
described, so the problem is with one of the regional settings that differs
    between English and German.

    Hi,

After selecting United States in regional settings you must reboot windows.
If that still does not help, then you install the editor again without
    de-installing.
    That should do the trick.

Just the same in Belgium and France.

You can hold on the dutch setting by forcing in Control panel, Regional
settings, the decimal symbol from a comma to a period and the separator from a
period to a comma. No other changes are needed and Word and Excel continue to
work with the dutch settings, except for the separators. Existing files seems
    to be automatically upgraded.
