John, I suppose you refer to gender, do you?

Sorry I cannot help for pins sourcing, as I am not in the USA. Several
years ago (while in Caracas), I was building PCBs and used Molex pin strips
that were easily available. They came in small bars (like a miniature
comb) and I cut them to the required number. I could also buy just the
pins, without the plastic strip, but they were more difficult to mount
straight on the PCB.

    Jose,

Thanks for hanging in there for me. But I got a Digi-Key catalog this week,
and I finally rounded up what I needed. I tried on their website, but as
the saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. If anyone is
interested, here is what I have settled on:

    DigiKey part number:
929834-02-36-ND "Straight, Single Row Male board mount interconnect"
    and
929835-01-36-ND "Right Angle, Single Row Male board mount interconnect"

My order hasn't arrived yet, but I'm pretty certain this is what I was
    looking for.

    Thanks again,

    John
