Voltage Regulators.....

Hello Fellow Stampers,

All of this discussion about voltage regulators lately has led me to
another question.... Can regulators such as the 7812 and the 7805 be used
in parallel for increased current output? Is it that simple or are other
components necessary? Would those of you in the know please educate us?

Thanks,
Tim

Yes they can, Been there Done that!!!

Just hook the leeds from each one to the same leeds
on the other ones, and you can increase the output
current times how many you hook up.

    in - in - in - in
    gnd - gnd - gnd - gnd
    out - out - out - out

Actual Current will depend on the heatsink you use.

I forgot the part number but I have bought 2 amp versions in the same
    case/pin-out.

I also read somewhere that you might want to put some very low resistances
in the out put lead of each device to equalize the current flow between the
devices - read it along time ago - cant remember much about the article.

Thanks for the responses guys. Richard, what you mentioned here is what
was in the back of my mind bugging me - can any of you expound on this a
    bit more?
