USB and the stamp revisited

I know this has been covered probably a thousand times but I am
looking for some help on getting my Compaq Presario 1200 laptop and
the stamp software.

I have 2 USB ports
No straight serial
1 parallel port
I have a belkin USB adapter
I have tried both versions of the stamp software for windows
My OS is windows ME

Any suggestions?

    I have almost exactly the same setup, but I could never get mine to work with
    the basic stamp 1. I even tried a
    boot able disk and ran the software from the dos prompt and I still get eeprom
    verify failed error. I have read
    elsewhere that ME turns the parallel port off to conserve power.

    If you get it to work please let me know because it would be so much easier.

    I did get it to work on my PC running win 98 and pentium 2, but I had to
    completely exit out of windows to do so.

    Does the Stamp work with a USB adapter ?
