Beginner BOE Problem

I am using the BOE and following the "What is a Microprocessor"
Lesson. In Lesson 2 (I think its 2), I tried adding a Servo. After
downloading the program, the servo turned for an instant and then
stopped working. Now I am unable to download new programs to the
BOE - I get an error message indicating there is a problem finding
the COM2 port. I removed all the parts and worked on the simpler
lessons (blinking LED's etc) which had previously worked before, but
now I get the same message about not being able to find the COM2
port. I can't find anything wrong - I'm unable to find the problem
listed on other sites and was hoping one of you had run accross this
problem before and could provide some guidance. Do I need to replace
the BASIC STAMP?

NOTE: I used the parts supplied by Parallax. Those who have done
this know there is a large 3300 uF Cap supplied and I took great
pains to make sure it was installed with the correct polarity.

You sure COM2 is the port you have been using?

I ran into a similar issue on my Dell laptop. For some reason, when I run on
batteries, my Stamp is suddenly unrecognized, then the serial port is
undetected. I have to reboot the PC to get everything back up and running.

I suspect it may have to do with power management or Norton Antivirus
scanning when I come out of the screeen saver.
