lighting application

Hello all
I'm new to this group, and new to stamps. I'd like to try
an application with the stamp that i've been meaning to do by other
methods.
It sounds simple but I'm having trouble with it.
I'd like to operate a light in the garage for a specified period after
dusk . The light would come on for an hour or so and then turn
off. I'm using a photodiode and a simple code with
a sleep command.
Does anyone have suggestions or a simple code to get me going in the
right direction. I'm Going to power a basicstamp1 with a 9v
battery and then connect to a relay for the light switch.
