Palm V and Basic Stamp Interface

Fellow Stampers,

Sometime back Tracy Allen, Al Williams and the group gave me advise on
interfacing a Palm to a Stamp.

I connected my Palm Vx to a terminal program and was able to
communicate

Used a gender changer on the hot sync cable

Next I ventured to write a small program in PocketC and was able to
toggle an LED in the Stamp and send a message back to the Palm of mission
accomplished
The possibilities are endless now. With Palm prices so low it can compete
with LCD's and you get a touch screen and a lot more

Now would like to probably use an IR interface from Rentron and try to
communicate throught the IR of the Palm as well as build a fancy user
interface

Will keep everyone informed of my attempts

The ultimate dream is to run an industrial machine/robot with a Palm
and a Stamp

Dan

Just keep in mind sending and receiving PC I/R stuff is not quite the same
as the remote control IR. Something about the pulse length being shortened,
if I remember right (I think it was mentioned in a recent a Nuts & Volts
article). I think the article mentioned some sort of chip that did the
    interfacing / translating for you.
