Anyone ever use EIO for anything?
I want to get a LCD to play with but $40-$65 for one is to much.
$10-15 is more in my range.
From what little I've read I think that I can get by with a simple 2x16 with
the Hitachi HD44780 controller for $12.00.
Or would I wind up missing something that is required for the LCD's
operation with something from eio that makes the Backpack (or similar) as
expensive as it is? I dont care about the amount of stamp I/o pins used, I
am just playing around and this would be the only thing on the stamp.
Also, this would be my first foray into LCD town.

Step 1:
Visit this page - download Jon's LCD experiments #11 - #13.
http://www.parallaxinc.com/html_files/resources/stampworks_experiments.htm
Step 2:
Grab just about any 2x16 LCD you can afford, but be picky and get one with the
Hitachi HD44780 controller.
If you're looking for the best-of-the-best in serial LCDs - grab one from Scott
Edwards.
The [original inventor] of the serial LCD. There are quite a few copies, but
some will
leave you "holding the bag" when they don't work as expected.....;o]
