PWM output

Stampers,

Has anyone found a cheaper product that allows a serial number to be
converted into a PWM signal, other than Al's PAK-VIII? I'm not sure, but I
believe that with a D/A chip and a TI PWM chip you might be able to achieve
the same thing. I also believe it would be possible to program a PIC (I
think this is what Al did.) Mine probably would not be as good, however,
would serve my in-house purposes.

    Hi David,
I am using one of Al's chips right now. Although I am
    really happy with it,
like you I need a more cost effective unit. I am
    building these units into a
product which makes the high cost a big deterrence. If
    you find anything
else that works, please let me know!!

One could be designed with Digital logic chips with out too much
difficulty. You would need maybe a uart or a shift register and a D/A
converter and some other support chips. Using a PIC with a custom made
program would certainly be an option, but that is what Al did, I think.

If there is enough interest, maybe we can just design one? Thoughts
    from the group??

    Stampers,

Wouldn't a DAC with a serial input do the job?

Just to point out, we do offer discounts for larger quantities
in "bulk" packaging (that is, no disk or manual). If you need 10 of
the same PAK you should be able to get a discount. Higher numbers can
earn higher discounts as you'd expect.

If you have that kind of quantity needs, feel free to contact me off
    list to discuss.
