Isd 33 series

Hello all,
I want to connect the basic stamp with the isd33240. I already bought
Nuts & Volts Magazine articles Sept./Oct. 2000 by Jon Williams on the
ISD. But unfortunately the articles don't discuss the serial
interface using shiftin & shiftout.
So I don't believe that the articles are useful because the isd used
in them doesn't involve a series of data to be transmitted or
received as in the isd 33 series.
Any help is appreciated. I tried to write a program but there was no
response and I don't know where is the problem.
