more BS2 detected but not responding...

I have a BOE with BS2sx stamp and apparently have gotten myself
stuck in "..detected but not responding.." hell like so many
others have. Here's the twist though - the stamp2sx program, when
run in a DOS window, talks to the stamp successfully while stampw
insists it isn't there. Using stamp2sx, I can indentify properly,
and have downloaded/executed various programs. Any idea what
might be wrong? Why is stampw so fragile - I thought Windows
programmers long ago conquered serial port programming?!? Rick
PS. Answers to usual questions: using stampw.exe v1.1, 9V
power pack, have tried swapping stamp modules.

I had this problem a few days ago, swapping out the battery and serial cable
did the trick for me... Sorry I can't be more helpful--
