If you are using Sin and Sout this is expected behavior. The Stamp
"steals" -12V from the PC which means only 1/2 duplex communications and the
PC hears everything it sends. You can read about it at

You can code around this problem or you can use another port. Our RS-1 kit
(http://www.al-williams.com/awce/rs1.htm) is very useful for breadboarding
with another port.
