the two sitting in front of me are by lambda and by TDK
you should be able to get them at an electronic surplus place for $1-$5
    each

Sure you could make an oscillator, chop the dc, run it through a
    transformer, rectify
it and then regulate it. That is only 20 components, a day of design and a
    day of troubleshooting.

Id go the surplus route rather than do engineering design work for $0.31/hr
    ;-)

I don't know what you are building. I thought this was a prototype or a one
    of a kind device.

The modules I have output 15 volts at 100 ma with 5 volt input.
I noticed the chips you found are 50 ma output - is that the problem?
    $2.45 seem cheap to me.

I use mine for +/- supplies for op-amps
I don't know anything about nmos fets

On second thought, perhaps I wasn't clear in my initial post. I am
designing an automotive circuit and need to boost 5V to 15V to bias some
    nmos fets.

The only chip I found that came close to what I was looking for was a
    MAX633.

I believe this part is at least ten years old. Is there anything newer and
    better?

you could build a "boost converter" to easily
accomplish 15V @ .1A with relativley low ripple. it
would only require a couple of parts, but the inductor
may be hard to find(might have to wind your own). for
the specifics consult any power electronis text, the
net of course even has sites that will design it for
you after some data is input, or even the little radio
shack book "power supplies" has a nice example
utilizing feedback to keep the output ripple to set
    limits.

I can not find anyone who has the MAX633 in stock. So I need another chip
    or module.

I have not found any other chips that are 5V to 15V (Lambda only seems to go
to 12V). What is the manufacturer and the part number of the 5V to 15V
    modules that you have?

How much current are you going to need?
