Before digging in to a new project to determine depth in water, I thought I
might ask if anyone has done this recently????

    Hi Chris,

what depth are you looking to meausre ?

there was a thread a few months ago about pressure monitoring in what I
think was ocean water and depths of a few atsmophers, somewhere around
100 PSI. there is a rough pressure of 14.7 psi per 33 feet of salt
    water.

If you're looking for presure depth in a container or vessel, there was
one of those some many months back where someone was looking to monitor
the level of a water tank, I think that was connected to well. If I
remember correctly, the consensus was a capatance monitor on the tank
so as to eleminate pressure variations caused by the pump.

ps: sorry for the poor spelling, I'm using my girlfriends Mac and
am not real swift with the cut and paste and spell checker as yet.

pss, do any of you mac users know where I can find data to see if an
ibm scsi is compatable with a mac scsi? or if I can put in a second
    drive on a power mac 9600 ?

I saw this in the Product Focus section of the April issure of Control
Engineering. Don't know if it would work for your application or not.
As no price was listed, it may be too expensive...I didn't do any
    additonal checking on the item.

    "Norristown, Pa. -- Model 276C, a leak-proof, two-wire submersible
pressure transducer, is ideal for measuring levels of corrosive
chemicals, as well as water and wastewater. It is available in eight
depth ranges from 5 to 65 ft of water, full scale. It has temperature
compenstation to ensure high accuracy over wide temperature ranges found
in process plants, water, and wastewater treatment. And, it can operate
with an unregulated power source (12-38 V dc)" www.transicoil.com
