Need some advice.

I am building a unit that is going to be measuring pressure, temperature, ph,
conductivity and possibly one or two more things. I am using a BS2P and would
like to find a 12 bit A/D converter with several channels, and probes that I can
use the I2c or the one wire protocol, neither of which I have used. Basically
I want to consolidate all these things together, use similar communication, use
minimal stamp lines and still have room for expansion. Any suggestions?

    For Ricky

Take a look at Texas TLC 2543. It has several channels, all addressable.
Uing one here and it works great. For coding examples search the Internet
for TLC2543 and go to Al Williams Owl2 Interface site. Owl2 has all the
    codes for the 2543.

Sid I take it you need an instumentation amp for each channel right? Is
there a nice IC out there that takes care of several channels?

Ricky, the TLC2543 is a 12-bit 6 channel ADC. Stamp will read the output
    directly.

    I don't make the OWL2. Isn't that Tracy?

As usual you are correct. Hope Tracy doesn't see that.

Look for Maxim's MAX186 - 8ch 12 bit serial SPI interface, internal ref.

Try the MAX186 for an ADC. It's an SPI device, so it takes two
lines. It's 12 bits of resolution and has 8 channels.

Paul, is the addressing of the channels also controlled by the 2 wire
    interface?

Aha! Right, the information is at
    http://www.emesystems.com/OWL2face.htm#TLC2543
The TLC2543 has 11 external channels, and those extra channels are
    one reason I favor it.

The SPI interface takes 4 (or 3) lines with one additional line per
device you add to the system. The I2C and one-wire protocols that
are available built into the BS2p take only two lines to daisy chain
    many devices.

The pressure, pH and conductivity sensors are probably going to be
analog sensors, so you will need analog signal conditioning circuitry
to interface them to input channels of the ADC. I have a few
interface circuits on my web site. The temperature sensor you could
get in analog or directly in any of the different digital protocols.

    -- good luck
