Compact Flash Interface

Has anyone ever interfaced a Stamp to a compact flash card?
I'm building a LONG term data storage/logging device for environmental
information. The units will be to cumbersome to move and bring back to
the lab for download, so I'd like something that I can just
remove/replace (like a compact flash card) then easily download that.
Plus with all the readers out there I thought that would be a good
solution.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Nathan

I've used the CF1 from www.persistor.com - they work very well, but cost
over US$500.
I'm currently looking at the Flashcore from
http://www.tern.com/flashcore.htm
Much cheaper, but haven't got my hands on any yet.

One other possibility I've investigated is using a USB root hub chip to
access a USB hard drive or key-chain style memory block. I've never
worked with USB on the hardware level so I'm still learning if it's
worth it or not.

You might look at MMC cards which have a serial type interface in addition
to the CF interface.
Here is one interfaced to a PIC.
http://www.compsys1.com/workbench/On_top_of_the_Bench/MMC_Project/
mmc_project.html
Some obstacles; requires 3.3v interface and 512 byte block writes.

Whoops, I thought they had both interfaces, but they are just serial
(MMC or SPI). There are adapters to put them in PCCARD slots ala CF
cards.
