Counting Problem

STAMPERS:
I need some help with a project! I have two rotary (512)encoders which
I would like to use to display angle readouts on a LCD. I have
experimented with counting in one direction, but I don't know how to
count up and down to display angles. Any help would greatly be
appreciated.

    You actually need to have two detectors per encoder wheel to tell direction.
    If the encoders are sealed and do not have a quadrature output, you may need
    to come up with another solution or use two encoders.
