no touch detecting

Hi folks,
some weeks ago there was a discussion here when someone wanted to build a
box that detects when someone puts his hand into it without touching it.
Besides all the solutions you all suggested I would like to tell you that I
worked with a chip called UTI. It didnot really solve my
Brain-Helmet-problem
but I think it is a very interesting and cheap tool for some of you who want
to use sensors and stuff. It took me ten minutes and almost no extra
components (one cap actually) to build a low-capacitive sensor that can
detect a hand coming (not even very) close to it.
