Figaro TGS822 Sensor + Basic Stamp
Archiver
Posts: 46,084
Hi all,
As I could'nt find from the archieves, I had to ask from here.
Has anyone used Figaro TGS822 Sensor, together with Basic Stamp II ?
If so, could you please help me out with the design, I am trying such
a configuration, but I could not meet much resources on the web about
this topic (May be I am looking at a wrong direction, correct me pls)
Kind regards

the sensor requires an excitation or heater voltage. Then you can measure a
variable resistance at the sensor's pins. Look at the RCTime instruction --
that should work.
The other alternative is to use a resistor as they show in the datasheet and
read the voltage using an A/D converter. The RCTime would be better as long
as the sensor will tolerate it (and I don't see why it wouldn't).

I've used a Figaro <http://www.figarosensor.com/ >, but not the
TGS822. The sensors differ in the kind of interface they require.
From my reading of the data sheet, the '822 looks very
straightforward. Like Al suggested, use either RCtime or an ADC to
determine the sensor resistance. Be sure to keep the heater voltage
stable, and allow lots of time (minutes) for it to warm up and
stabilize. The heater takes about 130 milliamps at 5 volts.
The math to convert the resistance reading to gas concentration is
kind of tricky, because it is a log-log response. The easiest bet,
for the stamp, is a lookup table with interpolation.
