Since you felt it appropriate to post your SPAM on your competitor's
list, I've decided to reply to it.

This is called Unsolicited Commercial Email. In other words, you've
taken up my time with your inane chatter. Sure, it's just a small email,
and it only takes me a second to click the delete button, right? Wrong.
I get a dozen or so of these kinds of Smile emails every time I check my
email, which is about once every 5 minutes. So it's a big pain in the
butt to go check my email to find only a bunch of ads for stuff I don't
care about. But giving you the benefit of the doubt, I went to your page
and poked around. Here's what I found...

1) Your'e a one trick pony. No mention of Linux. No mention of Unix. No
mention of a Macintosh version of your software, or even how to use it
on a Mac. I'm sorry, but I use a Mac. Everyone in my company uses Macs.
And after the Red Smile hit our competitor's servers, effectively
destroying their new product's launch, I think we'll stick with Macs,
for everything. Right now I can run my Stamp in VirtualPC with no
problems. Your site doesn't say anything about Macs or any solutions
like VPC, so it makes me wonder if you care. Maybe you don't maybe you
think there just aren't that many Mac users out there.

I don't mind that you don't have a Mac version of your software. I mind
that for all intents and purposes, it appears you don't care.

2) Can't find out more. Your search engine is lame. No, not lame as in
it sucks, I mean it's lame as in it ain't kickin. If it were my horse,
I'd shoot it. Right now it tells me it's got Internal problems. OK, here
I'm just poking fun at your site. You probably have uploaded a new
version of it and didn't set the permissions right on the upload. Simple
solution, go here and download PerlSlinger. It'll build that search
engine for you and set it all up wicked quick.

Oh wait, you don't have a Mac. Nevermind, that's MacOS-only software. I
think there are some PC programs out there that'll do it for you too.

3) Unconventional markups. Your repetitive use of underlined sentences
on your site makes me dizzy. Please refrain from underlining things, so
that your links will make more sense. Bold is fine for headlines. See
http://www.WebsitesThatSuck.com for more info.

4) Everyday spelling and grammar mistakes. One of your pages has a user
bragging about your wicked cool manual. Your site states... "Our Goal is
to become the leader in user interface. Well written manuals, and step
by step diagrams, giving you the end-user the tools needed to use and
enjoy Basic Micro products."

Now seriously, you expect me to believe that your manual is going to
contain high quality verbage when you capitalize the word Goal? The
second sentence isn't even a sentence! In your email (quoted verbatim
below) you use the word "supperior". Spelling mistakes should be left in
the past, back when things like spell checkers didn't exist. I won't go
into the other spelling and grammar mistakes found in just your SPAM.

Also, you should double-check your site using a web browser, such as
Internet Explorer or Netscape. That way, you'd notice that some of your
HTML isn't slapped together properly, resulting in things like this...
"make-it &endash;work" And i

Hopefully the manual was written by someone else.

Am I being harsh here? Probably so. But using a competitor's mailing
list to blather about your competing product says a lot about your
character. I need to know that the company and individuals I am dealing
with for critical parts of my job are ones I can depend on, and that's
something that your SPAM and your site don't convey.
