Connector for parallel LCD module

I need to connect a parallel LCD module. The LCD has a 14-pin header
that's apparently designed to be soldered to a circuit board.

I've been unable to find a connector. I considered soldering wires
directly to the LCD pins or soldering the LCD to a proto board and
then solder wires/connector to the board.

Has anyone come up with a better solution for this?

Thanks,
Marylou

    * You can hand wire.

    * You can get a 14-pin pc-board connector and piggyback the display to
    another board. This is how alot of the serial converter boards do it.

    * You can buy a 14-pin IDC connector that uses every other conductor on a
    0.050 spacing 28-conductor ribbon cable. We do this at work - we use the
    unused conductors for keypad lighting and display heater control.

    *You can buy an 14-pin MTA connector and hand insertion tool and make a
    cable (good luck finding the 0.100 ribbon cable) We do this at work also --
    These are funny red IDC connectors that accept a special cable. You need the
    tool to insert the wires properly.
